Join us for bilingual nature hikes in various Lake County natural areas.  Intended to introduce our region’s Spanish speaking residents to our incredible system of preserves, each hike lasts one hour. 

 Free.  No registration required.

Lyons Woods Forest Preserve
Waukegan
Saturday, May 4, 9 - 10 a.m.
Meet at the parking lot located on Blanchard Road, just west of Sheridan Road and south of Yorkhouse Road.

Route 60 Canoe Launch (Vernon Hills)
Wednesday, May 22, 6 - 7 p.m.

The canoe launch is located on Route 60 east of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21).  The entrance to the parking lot is on the south side of Route 60, just west of the DesPlaines River.


Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve
Lake Forest
Sunday, June 2, 9 - 11 a.m.
Includes a tour of the Wildlife Discovery Center.

The entrance and parking area are located off of Waukegan Road (Route 43), north of Route 60 and south of Route 176. At the light for Middlefork Drive/Westmoreland Road, turn west onto Middlefork Drive. Proceed to the end of Middlefork Drive, bear left at the fork to enter the preserve parking area.



Sun Lake Forest Preserve
Lake Villa
Saturday, June 8, 9 - 10 a.m.
Use the main entrance located on the south side of Grass Lake Road, just west of Deep Lake Road and east of Route 83 Note: there is only one lot.


Greenbelt Forest Preserve
North Chicago
Wednesday, June 19, 5 - 6 p.m.
Use the entrance to the preserve located on the west side of Green Bay Road, south of Route 120 (Belvidere Road),  Meet at Shelter B parking lot.


Grant Woods Forest Preserve
Lake Villa/Fox Lake
Saturday, July 13, 9 - 10 a.m.
Use the south entrance/parking area located on Monaville Rd between Route 59 and Fairfield Rd.   Meet in the parking lot near the shelter.
Old School Forest Preserve
Libertyville
Wednesday
, July 17, 5 - 6 p.m.
Meet at the Prairie Parking lot, at the entrance located on Saint Mary's Road just south of Route 176, and north of Route 60. 


Captain Daniel Wright Forest Preserve
Mettawa
Wednesday
, August 7, 5 - 6 p.m.

Meet at the entrance located on Saint Mary’s Road at Everett Road, south of Route 60.  There is only one parking lot.



Fox River Forest Preserve
Barrington
Saturday
, August 10, 9 - 10 a.m.

Meet at the entrance and parking area located on Roberts Road west of Route 59. Turn left into the first parking lot as you enter the preserve.




Independence Grove Forest Preserve
Libertyville
Saturday
, September 14, 9 - 10 a.m.
Meet at the entrance on Buckley Road (Route 137) east of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) in Libertyville.  Veer right after the entrance booth and park in first lot on left.
