Friends of Ryerson Woods is delighted to present its annual award for leadership in conservation to Stephen Bartram. During his 11 year tenure at the helm of Lake Forest Open Lands, Steve distinguished himself as a tireless champion of conservation. Steve's ability to forge collaborative partnerships and pioneering solutions resulted not only in a legacy of protected lands in Lake Forest, but a demonstration of innovative approaches to land conservation of regional and national significance. Most importantly, Steve's success in engaging the community has contributed to an enhanced onservation ethic that will serve future generations and inspire future leaders.

Opening Reception
Saturday, May 8
5:30 7:00 pm

At the turn of the 20th century, Sears, Robuck and Co. built a facility on the near west side of Chicago to provide for its mail-order service and office buildings. Providing the energy and heat for all the buildings on the 55-acre site, the Power Station was more than three million square feet. It was the largest business building in the world. Photographer Russell B. Phillips documnets the transformation of the Sears Power House on industrial space to a new, adapted reuse as a green charter high school serving Chicago's North Lawndale community.

Exhibition runs May 8 – June 27.
