| Featured Exhibition Powerhouse Russell B. Phillips Opening Reception Saturday, May 8 5:30 – 7:00 pm At the turn of the 20th century, Sears, Robuck and Co. built a facility on the near west side of Chicago to provide for its mail-order service and office buildings. Providing the energy and heat for all the buildings on the 55-acre site, the Power Station was more than three million square feet. It was the largest business building in the world. Photographer Russell B. Phillips documnets the transformation of the Sears Power House on industrial space to a new, adapted reuse as a green charter high school serving Chicago's North Lawndale community. Exhibition runs May 8 – June 27. |
